Knit Book Review: Sock Yarn Studio by Carol Sulcoski

I am happy to tell you that Carol is a friend of mine, a very very funny lady and someone I look forward to seeing every time we attend the same shows. We have laughed together, cried together, and laughed until we cried together :) This photo was taken in passing at Stitches Midwest in August 2012.
You may be familiar with Carol as a knitting designer, but did you also know she is a former attorney and a brilliant handdyer? She is the author of Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarns and Knit So Fine. Her designs have been published in many magazines and she is the founder of Black Bunny Fibers, an independent dyeing business known for unique, handpainted yarns and fibers.
Her newest book is called Sock Yarn Studio: Hats, Garments and Other Projets Designed for Sock Yarn. It features patterns from Wendy D. Johnson, Veronik Avery, Franklin Habit and more. The front chapters delve into some great information about the various types of sock yarn, how to avoid pooling colors, and tips on various fine yarn weights and substitutions.
The patterns range from socks (of course) to hats, mittens, scarves and wraps, and even a few bigger projects like sweaters and afghans. There are several one-skein, two-skein and multi-skein projects.
Here are some photos of my favorites:

Confession: I have never knit a pair of socks! However, I dream of knitting lace thigh high stocking one day, hopefully in my near future :))
Leave a comment telling me what you would like to knit with sock yarn. I'll choose a random winner next week and send that person a copy of the book, "Sock Yarn Studio"!!!
