Circle Shawl Pattern for Cherry Tree Hill Yarn

Cherry Tree Hill Yarn Company commissioned me to design a reversible, rectangular shawl with one hank of Babyloop yarn (8 oz, 965 yards). I used a combination of crossed, drop stitches and garter stitch, with a scalloped border. I was asked to try to use the entire hank of yarn. I divided the yarn in half, knit each side of the shawl, then grafted the two pieces together. There is less than 1 gram of yarn leftover! That is less than 4 yards! Can you say efficient? Psychotic.

The finished size is 68" x 26". The color chosen for this sample is potluck Water. It is a combination of purples, aquas, and blues.

After the shawl was blocked, the most amazing thing happened. The crossed, drop stitches and their respective openwork "holes" give the illusion of circles. I've used this stitch before, but never seen this unique illusion. Being a blocked lace with loopy mohair and a gorgeous halo, must have been what created the circular illusion.

The pattern will be sold by LYS stores and online retailers that sell Cherry Tree Hill yarn. A picture of the shawl on a model can be found here.

Kristin's Crochet and Knit Stitch Glossaries and Tutorials

While there has been a lot of designing going on around here lately, in an effort to allow our customers to debut photos of the patterns first, we haven't had many photos or news to share with you. In an effort to still grow our website, we have decided to offer more services. In addition to our Kristin Crochet Patterns, Knit Patterns, and Kristin Yarn and Pattern Kits, we have begun a reference library for you.
